Wellington Christian Academy
Mrs. Horsch's
Art
At WCA, we are happy to offer art as a special two times a week for a half hour each day for all grades. The basic art elements are taught; color, shape, line, texture, space, for and value. Art taught through WCA is connected with classroom core concepts. Students learn about many famous artists and do art in similar styles known by the artists.
Through art, students' minds are allowed to grow and are encouraged to build upon the creative skills God has given each of them. It is the belief of WCA that students will leave our school with an understanding that if their skills continue to be worked on, they will improve. This allows students to grow individually and encourages a sense of self-respect and appreciation for others' artwork.
Art is displayed throughout WCA. Students have the opportunity to enter the yearly Sumner County Conservation poster contest. Multiple students from WCA have won awards from 1st through 3rd places among all grades.
Mrs. Marianne Horsch
Art Teacher
Marianne has 11 years of teaching experience at WCA, with a total of 15 years in education. She earned her Master’s in Social Work in 1999. Known as a quiet behind-the-scenes helper, Marianne enjoys organizing and assisting in small group settings while preferring to let others lead. She values teamwork, peacemaking, and empathetic interactions with others, especially children. Raised in a Christian home and actively involved in church activities, Marianne's walk with God began at a young age. She has participated in youth activities, mission trips, and served in various capacities within her church community. Marianne chose WCA for her children's Christian education and felt led to join the school community when offered a teaching position after enrolling her children. Believing it to be a "Godly" place, she embraced the opportunity to teach art, feeling it was where God wanted her to be.
