Mrs. Ledesma's
Art Studio
At WCA, students in all grades enjoy art as a special class twice a week, with each session lasting 30 minutes. Art instruction focuses on the foundational elements—color, shape, line, texture, space, form, and value—while also reinforcing core classroom concepts across subjects. Students are introduced to a variety of classical and well-known artists and are given opportunities to create works inspired by the unique styles of those artists.
Through art, students are encouraged to develop the creative skills God has placed within them. WCA believes that each child is born with creative potential, and that through practice and guidance, those gifts can grow. As students develop their abilities, they also gain confidence, a deeper appreciation for the work of others, and a lasting respect for the artistic process.
In keeping with the values of WCA’s founders, classical artwork is displayed prominently throughout the school and in classrooms. These works reflect the beauty and order of God's creation and serve as a daily visual reminder of His creativity. This tradition underscores the belief that exposure to beauty cultivates both the mind and the heart. As it says in Ecclesiastes 3:11, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.”
Student work is regularly displayed throughout the building, and students are encouraged to share their gifts beyond the classroom. Each year, WCA students participate in the Sumner County Conservation poster contest, with many earning top honors across multiple grade levels.

Mrs. Kristin Ledesma
Art Teacher
Mrs. Kristin Ledesma brings several years of high school art teaching experience to WCA and is excited to return to the classroom after taking time off to raise her family. A long-time member of the WCA community, all four of her children have attended the school—her oldest beginning in 2011. Now, she feels incredibly blessed to step into a role where her passions for faith, family, and art can come together in one place. Kristin is passionate about helping students discover that they are made by a creative God who has uniquely gifted each of them with the ability to create. Her goal is to guide students as they explore new forms of expression, unlock their creativity, and find joy in the artistic process. One of her favorite concepts to teach is Color Theory—a foundational element that opens students' eyes to the vibrant and intricate beauty of the world around them. Whether it's through simple line work or color mixing, she loves seeing students light up when they realize what they're capable of. Her favorite Bible verse, Proverbs 24:3-4, reflects her belief in building a life and a classroom rooted in wisdom, understanding, and beauty: "By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures."
