Wellington Christian Academy
Our School
Wellington Christian Academy, founded in 2003 by Bill Meridith, has served students in Sumner County, Kansas for 20 years. The school began with Kindergarten and 1st Grade and 4 students. Adding a grade level each year, it has grown to 100 students in grades Preschool-6th grade. We begin each day with Scripture, prayer, and a song. Students enjoy chapel service on Fridays. WCA is like a family, and parents are encouraged to be involved.
Our Faith
WCA is committed to the teaching of Jesus Christ and expects that everyone connected with the school will conduct themselves according to the Word of God. Staff and students will start each day with a word of prayer to guide their endeavors. Students will have a daily Bible study class in addition to their academic classes. Our staff will strive to model Christ-like characteristics.
Why A Christian School?
Christian education is much more than just a Bible class added to the state's curriculum or daily devotional services added to an otherwise secular environment. Christian education is about the intersection of faith with every part of the curriculum and each activity that the school sponsors. Christian schools are uniquely able to handle the questions about the nature of God, His creation and what He expects of us, questions that can arise naturally out of any class.
Christian Education provides reinforcement with regard to what young people are learning about God in home and church settings.
What Are Our Expectations?
We want students that are serious about learning and challenging themselves. They should be motivated to develop their God-given abilities and be willing to use them to glorify His name. Our students will have parents that are willing to train them from a biblical perspective both in the church and at home. Finally, our students will be contributors to an environment that is Christ-like through their participation and cooperation with staff and peers.
Focus on the Family
“We believe the existence of private schools that encourage academic excellence promotes higher standards among all schools. We believe private Christian schools in particular give students an excellent opportunity to learn from godly teachers who can be important examples in their lives. These instructors can teach students how to integrate a Christian worldview into every area of learning. Christian schools also allow students to be surrounded by peers who are more likely to share a faith in Jesus Christ.”
Why A Private School?
Public schools are not allowed to approach this intersection of curriculum and faith. They can not draw from the vast knowledge that is found in the Bible. They do not publicly pray daily for one-another and for others. Students in Public schools are not allowed the added compassion and strength to resist today’s temptations.
