Text Box: Ms. Willis, a 31 year teaching veteran, is beginning her second year of teaching at WCA.  She will be teaching music classes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  On Friday, she will be working with students on reading fluency.  In past years, Ms. Willis has taught second grade, kindergarten, preschool and music classes, as well as summer school reading and math.  
She and her husband, live in Wellington and have four children and six grandchildren.  Ms. Willis has written and published a children’s book, Cowboy Tad the Triangle Man, a book about courage, overcoming fears, and importance of true friendship.  She enjoys going into area schools, presenting her book and the values it represents as well as discussing the publishing process and encouraging students to write their own books.  Ms. Willis is looking forward to seeing all the WCA students and having a great year with them.
Ms. Willis received her B.A. and M.A. from Southwestern College.

Text Box: Mrs. Mitchell is married to Thomas Mitchell, who is the pastor of the Praise Cathedral Church of God (headquarters in Cleveland, TN), where she attends church with her two sons.  She is active in her local church where she teaches Sunday School and Children’s Church.  Having received her B.A. in Elementary Education (K-6) from Southwestern College in 2007, she also recently earned an added endorsement to teach English/Language Arts for middle school (through 8th grade).
Mrs. Mitchell says she enjoys teaching at the middle school level because “…most of the time, my students get my jokes!  On a more serious note, I enjoy seeing them fulfill the high expectations I hold for them.  Knowing that I have a part in equipping them to be the best they can be and helping them to prepare for the rest of their lives is a very rewarding experience for me!”
For fun, Mrs. Mitchell enjoys spending time with her family, working in her flower garden, going camping, and reading a good novel.

Text Box: Miss Sewell is the third grade teacher at Wellington Christian Academy.  She grew up in Blackwell, Oklahoma.  She has two sisters, Andrea (Mrs. Dome) and Misty.  She has one three-year old niece, Annalee, who she enjoys spending time with very much.  She attends church at Pioneer Christian Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma.   
Miss Sewell received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Oklahoma State University, and she has a Kansas teaching license in Elementary Education. She knew from a very young age that she wanted to become a teacher some day.  As a teenager, her experience working with children helped her to realize how much she enjoyed working with children.  She knew that working in the field of education would give her the opportunity to influence the lives of young people.  
She likes teaching third graders because they are lots of fun! Outside of school, Miss Sewell’s favorite thing to do is to travel to new places and meet new people.  She also enjoys hiking and camping.  
Text Box: Mrs. Dome is the first grade teacher at WCA.  Education has always been important to her family, so she decided to become a teacher at a very young age.  She loves teaching first grade because the students are excited about learning!  
She received a BS in elementary education from Oklahoma Wesleyan University and a MA in counseling from Wichita State University.  She has a Kansas teaching license in elementary education and a Kansas license in school counseling.  
Mrs. Dome and her husband attend Westlink Christian Church in Wichita.  She enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.

Text Box: Ms. Darla is the preschool teacher here at WCA.  She is married to Nick and they have 2 daughters.  The oldest daughter is a sophomore at Wichita State University and the youngest is a junior at Wellington High.  She is a member of the First Christian Church in Wellington.  
Her church activities include Deaconess, 1st grade teacher on Wednesday nights, education committee co-chair, singing in the choir and in a group called ‘Joyful Noise’, and attending church camp with the high school in the summer.  Fun things she does are:  riding 4-wheelers, reading, yoga and singing.  
She has a BS in education with an Early Childhood/Early Childhood Special Education endorsement.  Ms. Darla loves preschoolers and she is  amazed every day at the ideas they have and how they carry them out.  She believes watching a child experiment, problem solve, and express themselves to get something accomplished has to be one of the best parts of her job.

Text Box: Mr. Tedder
Text Box: Mr. Tedder is the new Math and Science instructor at WCA.  He is married and has three sons.  He received his BA in Elementary Education from Southwestern College; Middle School Math and Science Endorsements.
Mr. Tedder felt called to education because God has blessed him with certain gifts, and it is his duty and responsibility to use those gifts.  He finds students fascinating, and enjoys the subjects he teaches.  Preparing students for high school and beyond is very important and rewarding to him.
For fun, he likes to spend time with his family; which usually involves swimming, playing football and basketball, running or working out.  If he is to tired to play outside, he enjoys watching movies, reading and playing video games.

Text Box: Mrs. Hilt is the physical education teacher.  She and her husband have three boys.  Mrs. Hilt also has two step daughters, who live in Derby.  Her family attends Hillside Baptist Church, where she is very active.  She has directed Vacation Bible School for the past four years; directs Children’s Church for the four to six year olds, and is in charge of the mission activities.
The Lord called her into teaching while she was still in high school.  She thinks ALL children are AMAZING and that is why she loves to teach.  Her favorite time of the school day is at Prayer Circle, “when we get to open the Bible and sing a song”.  In her free time, she enjoys reading Christian fiction books by Francine Rivers, nonfiction books by Elisabeth Elliot and finds comfort and guidance while reading her Bible.
She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Friends University.  She is certified in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education.  She is also an Academic Language Therapist.

Text Box: Mrs. Skupa is the kindergarten teacher.  She envisioned herself as a teacher from a young age, and has a deep passion for helping children learn and grow academically, socially, and spiritually.  Mrs. Skupa enjoys teaching her kindergarteners to read and write.  
Her education  includes a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education from Bethany College.  Because of her love of reading, she attended Emporia State University and obtained a Masters degree in Library Science with an emphasis in School Library Media.  She enjoys organizing the school library and looks forward to teaching information skills to K-7th grade students
In her spare time, Mrs. Skupa enjoys walking, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends.  Mrs. Skupa and her husband live near Wellington in the country and attend St. John’s Lutheran Church

Text Box: Mrs. Bassford teaches the fourth grade class.  She is married and her husband is self-employed in Wellington.  They have three daughters.  Their oldest daughter lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Their middle daughter lives in Dallas, Texas, and their youngest is in college at Washburn in Topeka.  They are active in the First Christian Church where this year, she is chairing the World Outreach Committee.  
She started her undergraduate work in Independence, Kansas and finished at Pittsburg State College in Pittsburg, Kansas.  She received her Masters Degree from Southwestern College of Winfield.  
She always knew she was going to be a teacher and has taught fourth graders for 35 years.  She likes teaching fourth grade because, “The fourth grade is a year for challenges and independence-it’s a great age”.   Her favorite things to do (besides teach fourth graders) is read, yard work and travel-she loves to travel!

Text Box: Mrs. Meeker is the second grade teacher.  She is  married and has two dogs.  She and here husband live in Wellington and attend church at the First United Methodist Church.  They are part of the Pathfinders Sunday school class and also help with the high school youth group.
She attended Wichita State University where she earned a bachelors degree in Sports Administration with a minor in Spanish in 2005. She recently earned a second bachelors degree from WSU in Elementary Education in 2009.
All of her life she had been interested in being a teacher and she truly feels at home in the classroom and at WCA. She believes second grade is a great age to teach and she especially loves the enthusiasm that the students display everyday.
When she is not teaching she enjoys spending time with her family, sewing and photography.

Text Box: Mrs. Myers is the principal at Wellington Christian Academy. She has been at WCA since it was founded in 2003. 
She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Wichita State University, her Masters in Education from Southwestern College and her leadership education at Baker’s University. Mrs. Myers holds a Kansas professional license from the KS State Board of Education for elementary K-9 and building leadership PreK-12. 
Mrs. Myers has presented at the National School Board Conference in Denver and Atlanta and also at MACE. She is married has two daughters, two son-in-laws and three grandchildren. She is a member at the Wellington Calvary Lutheran Church.
